fellowship: a play for volunteers
Commissioned by Cornerstone Theatre Company
Play #8 in The Hunger Cycle
Theme: Scarcity and Abundance in Los Angeles. Story-circles with organizations
and individuals addressing hunger and scarcity in an affluent, abundant city.
An immersive theatre experience, and an invitation to volunteer. Audience
members make 120 sack lunches for homeless LA residents during the course of
the play.
Premiered January 21 – February 12, 2017

A Soda in Richmond
Commissioned and produced by Cornerstone Theatre Company, with The
California Endowment and Richmond, CA, January, 2013
A short play about the soda tax on the election ballot in Richmond, CA.

Willful
“Talk it Out” Series on School Discipline in California Schools
Commissioned and produced by Cornerstone Theatre Co, with The California
Endowment, The Black Parallel School Board, Sacramento, CA
A play based on story circles with students in high school and middle school on
“Willful Defiance” – an overused disciplinary action in the California schools to
suspend students.
Performed at the California State Capitol, June 2013

Zero
“Talk It Out” Series on School Discipline in California
Commissioned by Cornerstone Theatre Co, with The California Endowment, and
Black Parallel School Board, Sacramento, CA
3 plays on the “Zero Tolerance” rule in California schools. Based on stories
circles with middle school and high school students in Sacramento and the
research that minority children are often first to be suspended, and first expelled.
Breaking the school-to prison-pipeline.
Performed at the California State Capitol, and in the Sacramento Community,

What does choice mean? Story-circles with egg donors, sperm donors, gay
couples who adopted, disabled women, abortion rights activities, the Feminist
Majority, women and men who are defining family by their own terms.
